Wisdom Teeth Problems
Menu
Wisdom teeth develop in the back of the jaw and erupt into the mouth between the ages of 18 to 24. They are commonly impacted (no room for eruption) and usually require referral to an oral surgeon for their removal.
Some wisdom teeth may never erupt and not be seen until they cause problems by damaging the teeth in front of them through pressure resorption.
It is advisable to have an OPG full mouth x ray in late teens to establish the presence of wisdom teeth and their potential for impaction.
