Porcelain Crowns
What is a porcelain crown?
A porcelain crown is a full cover of the tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. This procedure improves the appearance of a tooth and also strengthens teeth that have been heavily filled, removing the risk of a cracked tooth. Your dentist may recommend a crown after root canal treatment to prevent further damage to the tooth.
Before: Worn and crooked front teeth.
After: Porcelain crowns were fitted to create this new smile.
Porcelain crowns technology
For many years, traditional metal-based crowns have been used to strengthen teeth that are heavily filled, weakened, or darkened due to root canal therapy. Thanks to new technology, all porcelain crowns look as good as your own teeth. This is because the distinctive dark metal line or ‘blue halo’ of old-style crowns have been eliminated.
Porcelain crowns are now metal-free and so natural looking they could be mistaken for real teeth. You don’t have to have the ‘blue halo’ look with your new crowns.
In combination with the Digital Smile Design process, your new smile with all porcelain crowns or veneers will create a beautiful, natural smile that you will love showing off.
